The American Legion Post 191 Ladies Auxiliary held an Americanism essay contest “What Does Freedom Mean to My Family”? Americanism Essay winners were Kiara Good 5th Grade; Luke Snyder High School; Eric Ringer High School. Each received a $50 check from our unit with a chance at another $50 at the National Level.
The American Legion Post 191 Ladies Auxiliary will be sending one representative from Bremen High School to the Hoosier Girls State 2015. Hoosier Girls State is a very prestigious event. The first Girl’s State took place in 1938; first Hoosier Girl’s State (HGS) was held in 1941. Over 44,000 young women from Indiana have participated – some famous Hoosier’s are Jane Pauley, Mrs. Jan Reed, and may other fantastic BHS seniors. Who qualifies for HGS? Current juniors who: are interested in government; possess leadership qualities, integrity, and good character; show proper respect for the US flag; have a love for God and country. HGS is a hands-on, participation-based program; delegates run a mock state government for several days. Our 2015 representative is Tori Homan.
The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a Swiss Steak Fund Raiser Dinner at the VFW/American Legion on Thursday, June 11th beginning at 5:00PM until they are sold out. There will be pre-sale tickets at the club for sale. Meal comes with mashed potatoes, green beans, lettuce salad, tea or coffee and dessert all for $8.00.
