Benefit to be held for Gerald Troyerby Tammy Venable on July 9, 2014
Gerald Troyer of Nappanee and member of the Bremen VFW Post 8972 was involved in a motorcycle / deer accident on SR 19 in mid-May of this year. The impact with a pregnant deer caused Troyer to loose control of his motorcycle and hit an oncoming car head-on. Troyer was flown to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne where he stayed in ICU for 4 weeks.
Friends of Troyer have put together a benefit Motorcycle Ride to assist with medical bills scheduled for August 10th. Ride registration is from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. First bikes will leave at 11:00 a.m. The bike route will go South of Bremen. Cost for the benefit ride is $15.00 for a single and $25.00 for a double. Cost includes Biscuits and Gravy for breakfast and a Spaghetti dinner at noon. Non-riders can participate in the Spaghetti dinner by paying $10.00 and the Biscuits and Gravy for a donation. There are also hot dogs for $1.00 each. The ride, hosted by Legion Riders, begins and ends at the VFW Post 8972, 1750 W. Plymouth Street, Bremen.
There will also be a Corn Hole Tournament sponsored by SAL Post 154. The cost for a team is $20.00. Registration for Corn Hole is from noon to 2:00 p.m.
A live band, "Strange Adjustment" will be performing at the benefit. A Silent Auction of all the donated raffle items and 50/50 drawing and tip boards will also be sold. Any monetary donations can be dropped off at Lake City Bank.
The Bremen VFW Post 8972 and Auxiliaries are hosting the event. The Nappanee American Legion is also assisting with sponsoring the event. Other sponsors are welcome to donate either monetary gifts or raffle prizes for the silent auction.
