Bremen Public Schools are excited to introduce to you the new staff members...
Jim White, Superintendent
Bremen Public School’s new Superintendent, Dr. Jim White, “earnestly believes that Bremen Public Schools is the best kept secret in the state of Indiana. The community is warm, supportive, genuine, and cares about the success of the school corporation.” Dr. White comes to us as a 1987 Thayer High graduate (located in Thayer, KS). He went on to earn his undergrad degree in Elementary Education with math and science minors from the University of Kansas in 1993. White earned his Master’s from Indiana University and his Ed.S&Ed.D from Ball State University. Dr. White has had a variety of experience in various school systems. He started off as the Assistant Dean of Students for Hanover College. White then moved on to teach 7th grade in Jeffersonville, IN then serve as the Technology Director for Scott County School District II & Clark-Pleasant Community Corporation. Dr. Jim White has recently moved to Bremen with his wife and children. He enjoys cycling and is a licensed private pilot. White is looking forward to working with the staff of Bremen Public Schools and helping continue the academic excellence that the Bremen community has been accustomed to.
Steven Gall, Elementary Assistant Principal
Steven Gall is looking forward to continuing to help solve problems, to learn from others, and to help others learn as the new Elementary Assistant Principal. Gall is a 1990 NorthWood High School graduate. He went on to get his degrees in Elementary Education (Purdue) in 1994 and Instructional Systems Technology (Indiana University) in 2004. He received his Principal Certification from Lamar University in 2014. Gall was previously an elementary teacher and Integration Technology Coach at Bremen before becoming the new Assistant Principal. He currently lives with his wife, Kristi, and 3 children in Nappanee.
Mindi Slone, Integration Technology Coach
Mindi Slone returns to Bremen as the new Technology Integration Coach. Slone had taught eight years of high school English at Bremen before becoming the Campus Administrator at The Crossing Educational Center in Nappanee last school year. Slone graduated from Northwood High School in 1997 and earned her Secondary English Education degree from Indiana University-South Bend in 2002. She is looking forward to learning many more names and faces in her new position. Slone currently resides in Nappanee with her husband, Adam, and her 3 children. Alongside being the Integration Technology Coach at Bremen, Slone is planning on assisting with the High School Musical and Show Choir.
Lori Hundt, Special Services Director
Lori Hundt is a Bremen gal through and through. Hundt graduated from Bremen High School in 1981. She became a study hall monitor at Bremen in 1993 and became an instructional assistant in the high school in 1995. Hundt went on to earn her Special Education degree from Indiana University-South Bend in 2005 and began teaching special education in the high school. She then received her Masters from Purdue Calumet in 2011. Lori Hundt is Bremen’s new Special Services Director and is looking forward to getting to know more families of students with special needs. Alongside her new title, Hundt will stay involved in coaching the Unified Track team this spring. She currently resides in Bremen with her husband of 31 years, Robin.
John Gish, K-12 ENL Teacher
John Gish’s first impression was that Bremen is small in numbers, but devoted to excellence. Gish is a 2003 Evansville Central High School Graduate and earned a degree in Middle School Education with concentrations in Social Studies and Science in 2014 from Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne. Alongside becoming the new ENL Teacher at Bremen, he is planning on coaching Middle School Cross Country this fall. Gish currently lives in Warsaw with his wife, Nicole, who is also an ENL teacher. They have 2 dogs and enjoy camping, biking and traveling.
Amber Lawmaster, Mental Health Therapist
Amber Lawmaster has switched positions at Bremen Public Schools from an Elementary teacher to the new Mental Health Therapist. Lawmaster graduated from Bremen High School in 1993 and went on to Indiana University-South Bend where she obtained her BA in Sociology (1997), BS in Elementary Education (2003) and will obtain her MSED in Counseling and Human Services in May of 2015. She is looking forward to continue working with a friendly, supportive, and child-focused staff. She currently lives in Bremen with her husband, Tim, and their three daughters.
Shannon Verhaeghe, HS Career & Technical Education (CTE)
Shannon Verhaeghe has gained a new position at Bremen Public Schools. She is moving from a high school special education assistant to the new high school Career & Technical Educator. Alongside working in the special education department, she will be driving a school bus for Bremen, as she has been doing the past four years and assisting with FFA. She is looking forward to getting to know more students and sharing her love of agriculture with them. Verhaeghe graduated from Tabernacle Christian School in Martinsville in 1996. She went on to get her degree in Animal Agribusiness from Purdue University in 2000. Verhaeghe currently resides in Bremen with her husband, Dustin, and their 3 children.
Kim Kincaid, HS Mathematics/Physics
Kim Kincaid’s first impression of Bremen was that she could see that the staff really care and work well together. Kincaid will be able to be a part of our caring staff as the new High School Mathematics and Physics teacher. She is a 1998 Bremen High School Graduate and she graduated from Indiana State University in 2001 with a degree in Math Education and a minor in Computer Science. Before coming to Bremen, she had taught in the Mathematics field in the Triton and Goshen school systems. She currently lives in Bremen with her husband and their four children.
Karly Keiper, HS Life Skills Teacher
Karly Keiper is looking forward to working with her students and peer mentors throughout this school year. Her first impression of Bremen was that everyone is so welcoming and kind and she has had many people help her with the transition to Bremen. Keiper is a 2009 Oregon-Davis graduate. After high school, she went on to earn her degree in Early/Middle Childhood Education and Mild Intervention Special Education from Butler University in 2013. Keiper currently resides in Winona Lake and enjoys spending time with her family and dog, going fishing, and doing ballet. Alongside being the new High School Life Skills Teacher, Keiper plans on helping coach the Unified Track team this spring.
Lori Kois, 8th Grade Language Arts
New eighth grade teacher, Lori Kois is looking forward to making bonds with students in the community and seeing them grow and go through the various stages of their lives. Kois comes to Bremen as a 1988 South Bend John Adams graduate. She graduated from both Indiana University-South Bend (1992) and Indiana Wesleyan (2002). After college, Kois taught at Urey Middle School in Walkerton for 16 years, then took a break from teaching to spend more time with her family. She currently resides in Osceola with her husband of 22 years, Mark, and her three children, Cameron, Mitchell, and Addyson.
Mike Gallo, 7th Grade Social Studies
Mike Gallo, comes to Bremen as a native of St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated high school from South Bend St. Joe in 1995 and earned his Communications degree from Purdue University in 1999. He then went on to earn a teaching degree from Indiana University-South Bend in 2002. Before arriving at Bremen, Gallo taught 7th and 8th grade social studies in Niles, Michigan, for 10 years. He then went on to become the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment at Xavier School of Excellence in South Bend for the past 2 years. Gallo is looking forward to “getting kids excited to learn about the world around them, past and present.” Alongside teaching 7th grade, Gallo will be coaching the 7th grade boys’ basketball team. He currently lives in Granger with his wife and 3 children.
Viki Cullen, K5 Physical Education
Viki Cullen is looking forward to getting to know all the students and hopefully increasing their love for activity. Cullen is a 2000 Wawasee High School graduate and earned her degree in Athletic Training and K-12 Physical Education/Health from Indiana University in 2005. The past 9 years, she has been teaching PE and Health at School City of Mishawaka and was the Head Athletic Trainer for Mishawaka High School and PRN Athletic Trainer through St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Cullen currently lives in Bremen with her husband, Dustin, and their 2 children and plans on doing lots of outdoor activities all year long with them. Alongside teaching K5 Physical Education, Cullen will also be coaching 6th grade girls’ basketball.
Kristi Whitinger, 3rd Grade
Kristi Whitinger is looking forward to being in a classroom full time and teaching a new grade this school year. Whitinger is a new 3rd grade teacher at Bremen this year after being an instructional assistant last year. She graduated from Elwood Community High School in 1986 and received her Elementary Education degree from Purdue University in 1991. Whitinger taught 1st grade for 20 years at Elwood Elementary School in Elwood, IN, before coming to Bremen last school year. Her and her husband, Jeff, currently live in Bremen with their two daughters.
Ginger Holbert, 2nd Grade
Ginger Holbert has “been so impressed with how kind that students are at Bremen.” She also likes that fact that Bremen has the charm of a small town school and offers their students an excellent education. Holbert comes to Bremen as a 1988 LaVille High School Graduate. She earned her Elementary Education degree and Reading endorsement from Indiana University in 2000. Before obtaining the 2nd grade position, Holbert taught for 6 years in the South Bend School System, was a stay at home mom, taught preschool for 3 years, and taught reading intervention at LaVille for 2 years. She currently lives in Lakeville with her husband, Eric, and her son.
Pamela Bower, 2nd Grade
Pamela Bower’s first impression of Bremen is that it we are very family oriented and have a very supportive staff. Bower graduated from Tippecanoe Valley High School in 1985 and earned a degree in Business Administration/Marketing from Central Michigan University in 1989. She went on to work at Farmers State Bank for 24 years, then went on to complete her licensing to become a teacher from Taylor University in 2012. Bower currently lives in Akron with her husband, Roger, and her two children on their family farm.
Christine Cook, 2nd Grade
Christine Cook comes to Bremen as a 1998 Warsaw Community High School graduate and a 2002 Grace College graduate, where she received her degree in Elementary Education and minors in Learning Disabilities and Mild Disabilities. After graduating from Grace, Cook was a Special Education teacher at both South Whitely (Whitely, IN) &Eastbrook Elementary (Upland, IN) schools. She then moved on to teach 6th grade for 1 year and 1st grade. After teaching at Upland for 11 years, she felt like it was time to move closer to family and was very excited to have landed in Bremen. Cook is looking forward to teaching with access to Bremen’s 1:1 devices and various other types of technology. She currently lives in Warsaw and enjoys reading, camping, and spending time with her friends and family.
