Fall “Clean & Green” Gives Jane’s Park a Faceliftby Sharon Bohannon on October 21, 2014 |
Springtime 2015 will burst forth with gorgeous beauty at Jane’s Park, thanks to the combined teamwork of Bremen PTO, Tri Kappa Epsilon Pi, Bremen Parks, Bremen National Honor Society, and Bremen Community Cares (BCC). The event was organized by Maria Mikel and Becky Kennedy Mumm.
In just two hours on Saturday morning, October 11, weeds all around the playground were replaced with a variety of hostas, lilies, and bulbs in the landscape surrounding the playground. All the plants were donated by Bremen residents. Among the 30-plus volunteers were 18 enthusiastic National Honor Society students from Bremen High School. A nice surprise, expressing his gratitude, Todd Stillson and his family joined in to help.
The playground was built in honor of Jane Stillson, who died of cancer in 1999. After learning that giving birth to her daughter would threaten Jane’s own life, she declined treatment so that her baby would live. Jane’s Park continues to remind us of Jane and Todd’s sacrifice and strong trust in the Lord.
