Storm Damage 07/01/14

by Tammy Venable on July 1, 2014

In the early morning hours of July 1, 2014, a massive weather system hurried its way through Several Counties in Northern Indiana.  Bremen was spared any major damage other than a few downed trees and electric outages.  The most damage in the Bremen area happened near 7th Road.  Surrounding areas were not so lucky.  LaPaz got significant damage.

The Bremen Tornado sirens never went off.  Matt Neher, the Bremen Fire Chief said, "Sirens are set off only when a tornado is sited.  There were no tornado sitings.  The storm started to break apart in the LaPaz area."  The fire department dispatches volunteers to go out and evaluate the weather and watch the skies for potential tornadic activity.  The Fire Chief was watching the storm all night.  "Most of the damage seemed to come from straight line winds", said Neher.
