Walking Tour Booklet Available at Local Businesses - Celebration Scheduled

by Virginia Henke on July 15, 2014

There will be a Walking Tour Booklet Celebration this Sunday, July 20th at 2:00 p.m. in the History Center (111 North Center Street). There will be refreshments, a short program to recognize Keith Board and his students who did the line drawings in the booklet and a book signing.  A short walking tour will follow. Those interested are welcome to attend.

“A Walking Tour of Historic Buildings in Bremen, Indiana” by Keith Board with illustrations by the students of Bremen High School has been printed and is now available.  The printing of the booklets was made possible by an Historic Preservation Education Grant from Indiana Landmarks, Indiana Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Marshall County Community Foundation and Historic Bremen, Inc.

Mr. Board teaches Architecture in his Bremen High School class and volunteered his time to research and produce this booklet for the benefit of Historic Bremen, Inc.  Students in his classes created the computer line drawings of the buildings.   The booklet has thirty-five drawings and includes buildings on Plymouth, Center, Marshall, Whitlock and South Streets.  The back cover has a suggested path to walk using the booklet guide.

The cost of the booklet is four dollars ($4.00).  It is available at Koontz Hardware, Woodies Supermarket, Don’s Barber Shop, Bremen Town Hall, Custom Framing Solutions and Bremen History Center (which is open on Tuesdays 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on the first Sunday every month from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.).
