Celebrations Galore at the 2015 St. Joseph County 4-H Fairby St. Joseph County 4-H Fair on May 9, 2015
South Bend, Indiana: 2015 marks the 90th anniversary of the St. Joseph County 4-H fair, and much like past years, there is a wide variety of entertainment and fun for people of all ages, and we have plenty to celebrate. This year’s fair dates are July 3 through July 11 and will feature concerts, the Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo, demolition derby, tractor pulls, monster truck throwdown and much more.
We kick off the fair with our annual parade and opening ceremonies at 5:30 pm, Friday July 3rd. The 4-H fashion review will follow opening ceremonies. The evening finishes off with a demolition derby.
New this year is the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair Parade: A salute to the City of South Bend’s 150th anniversary and to the 90th county fair. After you enjoy the parade, head back to the fairgrounds for our first annual Miss St. Joseph County Queen Pageant. The pageant begins at 1pm. The fun continues with the Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Saturday evening, as well as entertainment by Art & the Artichokes, followed by a fireworks show at dusk.
Sunday morning begins with a non-denominational church service by The Vineyard Church at 10:00am. No celebration is complete without cake. On Sunday July 5th the Fairboard is throwing a birthday party complete with cake for everyone in the Hoosier Tire Commercial Building. The Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo and fireworks return again Sunday evening.
Entertainment continues throughout the week with a Monster Truck Throwdown and entertainment by Dewayne Spaw on July 6th. Tuesday and Wednesday will showcase Knights of Valour, a full-contact jousting show.
July 7th St. Joseph County welcomes Pop singer Andy Grammer. Andy has several top hits including “Love Love Love,” “Keep Your Head Up” and his most recent single “Honey I’m Good.”
Tractor pulls return to the fair this year with the NTPA tractor pull featuring a new class on July 9th and the Antique Tractor Pull on Friday July 10th.
Also on Friday Cooke & Bell will entertain fair goers, then Rodney Atkins takes the stage for an evening of country music and fun. Rodney was the headliner for the 2014 B100 Birthday party. His hits include “If Your Going Through Hell,” “Take A Back Road” and “He’s Mine.”
Saturday night the fair will finish its entertainment with Sod Busters Mud Bog.
The Zolman Tire stage is jam-packed with entertainment throughout the entire fair. Caroline Kole, who is managed by Starstruck Records, will be performing 3 times daily, all 9 days of the fair. Kari & Billy are also preforming 3 times daily July 3rd – 9th. Dewayne Spaw also returns to the fair for musical entertainment July 3rd and July 7th. The Zolman stage will also host the annual talent show.
Sports enthusiasts can participate in 3-on-3 basketball & 3-on-3 soccer tournaments throughout the week. Watch Omega Force power lifting competitions with the participants attempting to break 2 world records at our fair. Be entertained by Paul Bunyan lumber jacks perform log rolling, cross cutting, and power saw competitions.
Kids’ Celebration visits the fair this year for a fun interactive experience for children and their parents. Eudora Farms also returns to the fair for an interactive petting zoo full of exotic animals. Another fun event for children is a cookie decorating contest.
Other entertainment includes Indiana native Chandler Maglish – up-close magician. Also, Tim Balser Entertainment will entertain you with his tricks on stilts and balloon creations. Daily antique tractor parades and daily performances by Bear Hollow Chain Saw Carving will entertain fair goers.
