[INDOT - East Central] I-465 Exit to US 31 Traffic Shiftby Indiana Department of Transportation on June 23, 2014
CARMEL – Beginning on or after Monday, June 23, the westbound I-465 Exit 31 ramp to U.S. 31/Meridian Street will be restricted to one lane at the top of the ramp—similar to the eastbound exit configuration that has been in place since last September. The westbound exit ramp will maintain two left turn lanes and two right turn lanes onto U.S. 31/Meridian Street.
Contractors will be placing temporary concrete barrier wall along the ramp for the safety of workers and motorists as crews continue construction of the new interchange configuration. Shifting traffic and placing wall will require overnight restrictions on the ramp (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) Monday through Wednesday nights. The ramp configuration is expected to remain in place through the end of this year.
E & B Paving and Gradex are INDOT contractors for the $141 million contract to upgrade U.S. 31 to freeway standards from 96th Street to the Monon overpass. The contract builds new roundabout interchanges at 106th, 116th, 131st and 136th streets and improvements to the U.S. 31 and I-465 interchange, including two flyover ramps from southbound U.S. 31 to eastbound I-465 and eastbound I-465 to northbound U.S. 31.
