Summer Programs at the Wakarusa Public Libraryby Shondra Brown on May 30, 2015
Our Summer Reading Club (ages Preschool – Adult) has begun at the Wakarusa Public Library! Programs are offered throughout the summer for all ages; stop in to get registered and to find out more about our programming schedule.
Does your Young Adult (grades 6-8) have leftover auction bucks from a previous Summer Reading Club? If so, they will want to shop our YA Store from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4. Previously earned auction bucks may be redeemed at this time for prizes; four more store times will occur until the end of June, when the auction bucks will become obsolete.
Book Bites will take place on Friday, June 5 (“Dogs Colorful Day” by Emma Dodd) and Monday, June 8 (“Meet Dizzy Dinosaur!” by Jack Tickle) at 10:15 a.m. Children will hear a story or two and participate in either a craft or activity related to the stories. No registration is required.
Preschool Story Hour is a program for registered children ages 3 – 5 years old. On Tuesday, June 9, children will hear a story about “letter” heroes and participate in an activity and/or craft, including, “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault.
Tiny Tots Story Hour will take place on Wednesday, June 10 and is geared towards children ages 1 – 2 years old. Registered participants will learn about being a hero in the humorous book “Super Truck” by Stephen Savage. Different modes of transportation will be explored, and participants will have the opportunity to make their very own super truck!
Children grades K – 5 will want to sign up for our School Age Special to be held on Wednesday, June 10 at 2:00 p.m. Registered participants will take part in our Super Hero Academy, “Holy Super Powers, Batman” (Part 1). Students will complete an obstacle course of super strength at different stations and have the chance to create their own super hero mask!
“The Donkey in the Lion’s Skin” is currently running on our Dial A Story Line at 862-4441. Callers will hear how the donkey finds out that wearing a lion's skin does not a lion make.
