You're invited to the US 31 ribbon cutting that is set for Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014.
Governor Mike Pence, U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski, the US 31 Coalition and other dignitaries will cut the cut the ribbon and dedicate a portion of the New US 31 between Plymouth and South Bend on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
The event will begin at 2:30 p.m. on State Road 4 (SR 4) at the New US 31 interchange. Limited parking is available along the shoulders of SR 4, so attendees are encouraged to carpool.
SR 4 closes Wednesday afternoon.
State Road 4 will close from Old US 31 to the New US 31 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27. Through traffic will not be able to enter or exit US 31 during this time, but the exit ramps will be open to event attendees only.
Mangus Memorial Highway
Before cutting the ribbon, Governor Pence and Representative Walorski will dedicate the New US 31 from SR 4 through Lake Trail in St. Joseph County to late Representative Dick Mangus. Mangus was instrumental in securing funding for the study and design of a new US 31 route through Marshall and St. Joseph counties. His wife and children will be present to unveil memorial signage.
