Wakarusa Public Library Celebrates Picture Book Month

by Shondra Brown on October 31, 2014

November is Picture Book Month at the Wakarusa Public Library!  We will be celebrating picture books this month with displays of staff favorites and illustrator displays throughout the Children’s Room.  Patrons may also enter a weekly drawing for a picture book and/or a set of picture books by filling out what their favorite picture book is.  One entry may be filled out with each library visit.

Are you interested in reading a magazine the library does not currently carry?  Stop in before November 8 to fill out a short survey and let us know which magazine titles and topics you would like to see us subscribe to in 2015!

We will be participating in the Toys for Tots toy drive from November 1 - December 11.  A donation box will be located in the front foyer of the library, and donations will be distributed through the Family Christian Development Center in Nappanee.

Story Hour children will hear bear stories, including Thank You Bear by Greg Foley, on November 10 and November 11 at 10:15 a.m.  The sessions are for children ages 3 – 5 years old who are registered for the program.

Children in grades K-5 can join us on November 11 at 3:30 p.m. for our After-School program.  Registered children will hear how the familiar tale of Cinderella has been told and retold in many countries around the world and create a painting of one the objects connected to the story (paint will be used).

Aesop gives us another lesson in a humorous way - that persuasion is better than force.  Hear “The North Wind and the Sun” playing on our Dial A Story line this week at 862-4441.
