Wythougan Toastmasters Club Holds Humorous Speech Contestby Ruth Stutzman on August 20, 2014 |
Wythougan Toastmasters Club of Plymouth held their Humorous Speech Contest Friday morning, August 1, 2014. Contest chairman, Dennis Wenzel organized a well-run contest with Marcy Eckhoff-Wagner as chief judge and 2 speakers competing. Ten members and 2 guests attended the meeting.
The first contestant, Annika Piazza, Club President, gave a lively speech about the adventures of going through driver's education, comparing her own experiences with those of her 17 year old daughter, Annalise. One was a speed demon and the other a fraidy cat.
The second contestant, Suzanne Umbaugh, dressed up in her fishing gear and gave an animated description of her failed family fishing trip. The speeches were required to be within the typical Toastmaster speech time length of 5 to 7 minutes, with 30 seconds leeway on a minimum and maximum time.
Guests are always welcome and encouraged to attend. Toastmasters meet every Friday morning at 6:45 a.m. in the back of Christo's Restaurant on Michigan Street in Plymouth. You can contact Toastmasters on their website at www.toastmasters.org or by calling 574-780-9240.
