Box Commits to Ursuline College

by Troy Holmes on April 14, 2016

Micaela Box has signed a letter of intent to attend Ursuline College located in Pepper Pike, Ohio where she will study sports communications and play basketball for the Arrows.  As a senior, Micaela received All Northern Indiana Conference honors after leading Bremen High School in points, assists and free throw percentage.  A 2-time team MVP, she was named to the All Northern State Conference 1st Team as a sophomore and junior.  Micaela concludes her basketball career at Bremen as the current record holder for the highest season average at 20 points per game and totaled 924 points for her high school career.  She ranks 3rd on Bremen’s all-time scoring list.

Micaela has racked up several honors following her senior season.  The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association recognized Micaela as a 2016 All State honorable mention selection and Hoosier Basketball Magazine named her a Top 60 Senior Player in Indiana.  In addition, Micaela was selected for the McDonald’s Michiana High School All-Star Game where she topped all scorers with 31 points.  Recently, she was named to play in the Indiana Class Basketball All-Star Classic Senior Games.

Academically, Micaela ranks 4th in her senior class with a 3.974 GPA.  She also excels at softball where she is a 2-time All Northern State Conference shortstop and one of the leading hitters on teams that have won 2 sectionals titles and a regional championship.  Congratulations Micaela!

Bremen High School Head Basketball Coach, Shaun Hill stated, “Micaela Box is the type of player that helps a program get attention.  There are several area high school coaches that are glad to not have to prepare to stop her anymore but at the same time happy to see her make it to play at the next level.  Her work ethic and the time she has put in to become the best high school player she could be, has prepared her as she takes this next step in committing to play for Ursuline College.  Micaela is a very confident skilled player who will do well at Ursuline.  Micaela is a very driven player and has had a lot of success at the high school level which is a testament to the work she has put in. Ursuline has themselves a very good player they are gonna enjoy developing.”
