Bremen Swim Team Heading to Indianapolisby Troy Holmes on February 27, 2015
The Bremen Swim team heads to Indianapolis for the 2015 IHSAA State Swimming Preliminaries. Bremen finished 4th at last Saturday’s SB Riley Sectional advancing 6 events to tonight’s tournament and in the process, three BHS records were broken.
Krent Hueni set a new 500 FS record (4:46.38) breaking Tony Wagner’s 1997 record (4:46.51). Will Serf broke his teammate Nolan Filchak’s record in the 100 BS (54.06 vs. 54.50). Not to be outdone, Nolan Filchak set a new record in the 200 IM (1:55.91) previously held by David Hochstetler in 2002 (1:59.54).
In addition to the new school records, Meredith Eakins was named “Sectional Coach of the Year.” Appearing in tonight’s State Prelims are Krent Hueni – 200 FS (Sectional Champ), Nolan Filchak – 200 IM & 100 Fly and Will Serf – 100 FS (Sectional Champ).
Also advancing are the 200 FS & 400 FS Relay teams of Krent Hueni, Nolan Filchak, Carter Filchak and Will Serf.
