CJ Thornton Signs With Bethel College

by Bremen Athletics on May 30, 2015

CJ Thornton has signed a letter of intent to attend Bethel College located in Mishawaka, Indiana where he will continue his cross country & track career and study Engineering. CJ serves as captain on the Bremen High School track team and is a 2-time IHSAA Regional qualifier in the 1600M and also a participant on two Regional 3200M Relay teams. Thornton was named Bremen’s Most Valuable Runner as a junior and is a member of the current school record-holding 3200M Relay team. In cross country, CJ has been an All Northern State Conference runner twice and qualified for the IHSAA Regional as a junior and then Semi-State as a senior. In addition to running, Thornton was a 4-year member of Bremen’s soccer team and a 2-time All Academic Player as named by the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association.

Bremen Head Cross Country Coach and Distance Track Coach, Jeff Fitch stated, “What a joy and honor to be able to coach such a fine young man and athlete. He is a very hard working, strong-willed, goal-minded runner with a bright future in whatever he does. Thanks CJ.”

“CJ is a team oriented athlete, always willing to sacrifice himself to help the team excel. He has worked diligently over the last four years to develop into a college ready runner and I am sure he will continue to grow while competing for Bethel,” commented Bremen Head Soccer and Track Coach, Mark Yoder, “He has a fighter’s mentality on the track and works equally as hard in the classroom. It has been a pleasure to coach such a determined and humble athlete in two sports.”
