Sam Lacher has signed a letter of intent to attend Taylor University located in Upland, Indiana, where he will continue his track career. Last season, Sam was named Bremen's Most Valuable Athlete in track and field. During an outstanding junior year, Lacher captured Northern State Conference titles in the 100M, 200M, 400M and anchored the conference's best 1600M relay leading Bremen to a team championship. Lacher finished his 2014 campaign as a 200M Regional qualifier and the IHSAA State Runner-Up in the 400M clocking a school record 48.48. Sam is also a member of the BHS record relay team in the 1600M. Prior to last season, the 3-time captain qualified for Regionals in the 200M, 400M and 1600M relay. In addition to track, Sam is a 2-time selection of the Northern State All-Conference Soccer Team and named as a Top Team Player by the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association.
"It is a great privilege to train a young man whom God has blessed so richly with the ability to run well. Sam has worked diligently to put training principles into competition, and the results he has achieved so far are in direct correlation with his work ethic and desire to reach a standard of excellence," stated BHS Head Track/Soccer Coach Mark Yoder, "I am thrilled that Sam has chosen to pursue track at the collegiate level under Coach Neville’s tutelage, a man who has competed at the highest standard, and who, more importantly, will continue to grow Sam’s character and faith. We have clear goals for his senior season and will pursue them with tenacity and thanksgiving for the opportunities that lie ahead of us."
